The Ledger – Bond Clinic, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, hosted an open house Wednesday evening at its new campus downtown at 325 First St. N.
The new, 36,000-square-foot building, which opened in January, is the 10th campus for Bond Clinic, eight of them located in Winter Haven, said Marketing Director Ashley Scanlan.
Bond Clinic was started in 1948 by Dr. Benjamin Bond and has grown to nearly 50 physicians and 30 other medical providers — 23 of whom are now working out of the new campus. Most facilities remain at the Main Campus at 500 Central Ave.
The new two-story building houses:
‒ Urgent care: The move to the new campus quadrupled the amount of space to serve walk-in patients with minor illnesses and injuries and allowed urgent care hours to be expanded to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
‒ A cancer and research center: There is a separate entrance next to the parking lot for chemotherapy patients visiting the new infusion center, which is part of the oncology and hematology department and its research center.
‒ Pediatric: The department, headed by Dr. Kenny Nguyen, includes four advanced registered nurse practitioners.
‒ Medical offices: Bond Clinic’s vascular, pulmonology and nephrology physician offices and some of the internal medicine physicians have relocated to the new campus.
The structure is the largest built in downtown Winter Haven in more than 40 years, Scanlan said.
