Prevention and Treatment of Youth Sport Injuries
an Online Resource
Be aware of your genetic susceptibility. Conditions such as Sickle Cell Trait, asthma, allergies, or the needs for glasses and contacts can be determined through tests administered by your primary care provider. If a condition such as SCT or asthma is discovered you can still participate in any athletic sport that you desire. It will however let coaches and athletic trainers accommodate greater rest times or supply of medications and contact solution for your athlete if needed. It is not possible to plan for everything but if you know what you are looking out for it makes everything that much easier to handle if it occurs.
